Biksegn Asrat is a Mental Health professional from Ethiopia who holds an MSc degree in Clinical and Community Mental Health from Jimma University, Ethiopia. He is currently a doctoral fellow in public Mental Health at the University of Cape Town, funded by the African Mental Health Research Initiative (AMARI).

He has experience in treatment of severe mentally ill patients, and people living with HIV/AIDS and comorbid mental disorders. Biksegn has been working as a Junior Lecturer, teaching Mental Health at the University of Gondar, Ethiopia. His doctoral research is focusing on testing efficacy of psychological interventions for treatment of depression in people living with HIV/AIDS in Ethiopia.
