Dr Munyaradzi Madhombiro is a Consultant Psychiatrist who holds a MBCHB, DMH, and MMed Psychiatry from the University of Zimbabwe.

Munyaradzi was partially supported by the African Mental Health Research Initiative (AMARI) for his PhD in Psychiatry which he did with Stellenbosch University. Munyaradzi’s research interest is alcohol and substance use comorbidities with HIV. His broad interests are about integration of mental health and physical conditions ultimately closing the mental health treatment gap.

Munyaradzi developed a psychological treatment for alcohol use in PLWH and successfully trialled it in HIV care services. The delivery of the treatment was through a task sharing model.

Munyaradzi is currently a post-doctoral fellow at the SUNY University at Buffalo. He is currently engaged in a follow-up study assessing the acceptability of his intervention in a qualitative study.
