Biksegn Asrat is an AMARI PhD Alumni from Ethiopia. He did his PhD with the University of Cape Town (UCT), South Africa. Biksegn also holds an MSc degree in Clinical and Community Mental Health from Jimma University, Ethiopia.

He has experience in treatment of severe mentally ill patients, and people living with HIV/AIDS and comorbid mental disorders. Biksegn has been working as a Junior Lecturer, teaching Mental Health at the University of Gondar, Ethiopia. His doctoral research focused on testing efficacy of psychological interventions for treatment of depression in people living with HIV/AIDS in Ethiopia.
