Gloria Kalolo is a research fellow from Malawi funded by the African Mental Health Research Initiative (AMARI). She is currently studying towards a Master of Philosophy in Public Mental Health with the University of Cape Town (UCT). She obtained a Bachelor in Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) at the University of Malawi, College of Medicine (COM) and is a registered Medical Doctor under the Medical Council of Malawi (MCM).
Gloria started working in the Department of Mental Health (COM) as a clinical intern in 2016, then she became a research assistant involved in data collection, analysis and reporting. She is currently working as a Senior Medical Officer for the Ministry of Health at Thyolo District Hospital and heads the psychiatry department. She is a clinician and a researcher.
Gloria has experience in clinical psychiatry. Her main interest is maternal mental health. Her current research is: “Video-based health professional education for postpartum psychosis: acceptability and changes in knowledge amongst primary care workers in Thyolo, Malawi.”
