Rahel Birhane Haile

Rahel is a Senior Clinical Trials Manager at the Center for Innovative Drug Development and Therapeutic Trials for Africa (CDT-Africa), Addis Ababa University. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy and a Masters in Public Health from Addis Ababa University. She is currently a PhD fellow in Mental Health Epidemiology at Addis Ababa University, funded by the African Mental Health Research Initiative (AMARI).

Rahel has experience in managing clinical trials, conducting complex intervention studies, and carrying out data analysis and qualitative research. She is skilled in conducting systematic reviews, as well as in the development and evaluation of psychosocial interventions. Rahel has been involved in various research studies and has contributed to high-impact publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Her research interests include adolescent mental health, depression, clinical trials, development and evaluation of psychosocial interventions, epigenetics, research ethics, and implementation science. Rahel’s PhD work focuses on adolescent mental health, specifically the co-development and testing of culturally and contextually appropriate school-based interventions aimed at preventing common mental health disorders among adolescents in rural Ethiopia.
