This workshop teaches participants how to create and deliver effective oral presentations that will engage audiences. It introduces principles for opening a talk with impact, structuring content using storytelling techniques, and closing with key messages. The workshop also covers the design and use of effective visual aids (such as PowerPoint slides) to accompany talks. For a research audience, these skills are ideal for presenting research at conferences, as well as for pitching ideas and proposals for funding, as is common today with research grants. The Presentation Skills workshop was developed by consultant Simon Cain, who has worked with many universities, research bodies and charities, as well as government and commercial clients. Simon can be contacted directly via his website www.westbourneconsulting.com.
