This short workshop invites participants to think about the important role that teamwork plays in research, their current role as a team member, and their potential future role as a research leader. We include an evidence-based personality assessment survey (‘Big Five’) which can then be used to help participants reflect on their personal preferences for team working and identify possible challenges to working in a group. Building on this, the workshop considers how to manage conflict in team working, and provides role play scenarios for participants to try out ‘courageous conversations’ in tackling problems with colleagues. Challenges with teamwork also make good topics for discussion in mentoring relationships - see our workshop on Peer Mentoring for more details.
