Chipo Ashley Nyamayaro is a Junior Social Scientist at the Biomedical Research and Training Institute and the Health Research Unit-Zimbabwe (THRU-Zim). She holds a BSc (Hons) in Psychology and a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Mental Health. Chipo has contributed to a wide range of health research projects in Zimbabwe, including studies on adolescent health, antimicrobial resistance, COVID-19, older people’s health, and mental health. Through this work, she has developed expertise in qualitative research, participatory approaches, and health systems research in low-resource settings.

Her research interests lie in adolescent and global mental health. For her MPhil, she is investigating barriers and facilitators to service uptake within an adolescent health screening study, with a focus on the factors shaping adolescents’ engagement with services after screening positive for common mental health conditions. Looking ahead, Chipo aims to broaden her research to address the mental health needs of people with disabilities, working to develop inclusive and contextually relevant approaches that strengthen mental health systems in Africa.
