Sewit Timothewos is a pharmacist by training with a Master’s in Pharmacoepidemiology. She currently serves as the Project Coordinator and Research Uptake Lead for the HOPE Project at CDT-Africa, College of Health Sciences, Addis Ababa University.
She has contributed to a range of multi-country and national research projects addressing issues such as severe mental illness, non-communicable diseases, maternal health, surgical care, COVID-19, vaccine hesitancy, and most recently, homelessness among people living with severe mental illness. This body of work has led to her leading and co-authoring publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Her work centers on health systems strengthening and the use of implementation science to ensure that research findings inform both policy and practice. She is also engaged in stakeholder collaboration and research dissemination to bridge the gap between evidence and decision-making.
For her PhD, Sewit is exploring the individual, structural, and systemic factors that influence how people experiencing homelessness and severe mental illness engage with health services in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Through this research, she seeks to generate insights that can guide the development of more inclusive and responsive health care systems.
